Tony & Marianne

Tony Butler has led literally hundreds of workshops since he founded the Shakespeare Workshop in 1989. Tony is a playwright, whose work has been performed on radio and the fringe, and he believes the theatre is as important today as it was in Shakespeare’s time. He has twice visited Eastern Europe, lecturing on Shakespeare in Poland and the Ukraine.

Marianne Talbot was so distressed to hear that Tony was thinking of stopping the workshops because the administration was so overwhelming that she took it over for him. She is now responsible for booking tickets and organising the details of venue, lunches etc. In real life she is director of studies in philosophy at Oxford University’s department of continuing education.
